The reason the icum.to server is a bit more expensive at $30/month is because it runs the Peertube instance. Enough storage for videos is of course a concern, but most importantly I wanted to have at least two processor cores so that if I'm uploading a large video, transcoding doesn't make the site slow or unstable for anyone else using it. It is perhaps a bit overspecced but I would rather pay a little more and not have to worry about system resources while guaranteeing a decent user experience.
You can read more about Peertube hardware requirements here: https://joinpeertube.org/en_US/faq#should-i-have-a-big-server-to-run-peertube
I actually pay for two servers: one for the Peertube instance and my static HTML site, and the other for this site, Tubgurl.com. The imageboard server is much cheaper at $10/month. I could save money here again by hosting it on the same server as the Peertube instance, but I put this imageboard and my video website on two different servers because if one goes down, at least the other stays up, rather than everything being offline at once.
Many hosting companies are willing to terminate accounts with edgy content. My hosting provider accepts Monero and has a history of being censorship-resistant. I could probably save a few bucks if I was willing to use a different host, but then I wouldn't be able to pay for it using XMR and would constantly be worried about having the account terminated for hosting edgy content.
Overall, my costs to run everything are about $55/month (this includes the phone line), which is acceptable to me. If anyone wants to help pitch in for my hosting fees, it's always appreciated. I purposely don't shove my Monero address in your face because I personally would find it annoying. However, I haven't gotten a single donation in months, so just reminding people that it is an option.

Apparently this board is also male only.
