Sorry, I cannot give you a detailed response. At least for me, NoFap is not some strong conviction with which I define myself with, or whatever. It is really just that there are things keeping me from achieving my goals, that could, maybe, be caused by my fapping habits. So why not at least look into it?
>Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to just crank out a load in 10 minutes and get on with your day
I am happy for you, if it is this easy for you. In that case, there is probably no benefit in NoFap for you. For some losers like me though, fapping, IE, masturbation to porn, has developed into an addiction, where one constantly seeks for novelty, among other things. Reported side effects of this addiction are dramatic changes in sexual taste, erectile dysfunction, depression, completely desensitized dopamine receptors resulting in a lack of motivation and joy in everyday things, social anxiety, loss of attraction to real women, and more.
Science on porn addiction in particular is still very young, and is kind of difficult, since porn usage is so widespread, that it is impossible to have a control group, really. Supposedly, the first NoFap space came to existence after a bunch of guys with erectile dysfunction, except when it came to their ultra fetishized porn, started _exchanging_ with each other on the internet. Only because some of them would later go on to abstain and _report_ positive results, is this even being investigated.
It is pretty late, I am really tired and all of this is much better said in the video I posted and in the book Your Brain On Porn. There is also a book called Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke which I have not yet read, but is probably closely related and more general, so more something for you then. I do not understand this critic of time spendage at all. It sounds as if you have already figured life out and know what is important and what is not, or whatever. Though I wholeheartedly agree that this is a first world problem, LOL.
